Miracle Fruit

So imagine a fruit that rewires your taste buds making sour foods taste sweet. Here's an article from the Times. Enjoy and try not to salivate too much, courtesy of the Pavlovian response.

Whirled Peace

Ben and Jerry's announced a new flavor this week, and this one aims to please the palate and spread world peace. The ice cream makers say they were inspired by John Lennon's song "Imagine" as well as the singer's activism. The new flavor is called "Imagine Whirled Peace," and is a caramel and sweet cream ice cream with fudge piece signs and toffee cookie pieces.

My New Favorite Ice Cream

Mmmmm...delicious.

Okay, so it's not really ice cream, but it's frozen yogurt, and Hagen Dazs makes it. It's Vanilla Honey with Granola. I passed on the shelf the first time I saw it, but I decided to go for week last week and I love it! I absolutely love this frozen yogurt. It's creamy and has the perfect amount of sweetness, it's not drowned in honey, and the granola bit aren't mushy but slightly crunchy. It marries well with the vanilla and honey combo. Go out and buy this, taste it, love it.

And here's another plus. You can actually help out honey bees (which are threatened right now)

Hagen Dazs is funding research to protect disappearing honey bee populations. Learn more about what's hurting the honey bee population by going to http://www.helpthehoneybees.com/

California winemaking patriarch Robert Mondavi dead at 94

BERKELEY, Calif. (AP) - California winemaker Robert Mondavi has died at age 94.

A spokeswoman for the Robert Mondavi Winery says the pioneering vintner died peacefully at his home in Yountville Friday. Mondavi is credited with helping put California wine country on
the global map.

He traveled the world into his 90s, promoting the cultural, social and health benefits of wine.
Mondavi started his own winery in 1966 and used innovations such as cold fermentation and stainless steel tanks to build the company into a thriving business.

But in recent years the winery struggled with growing competition and other forces. In 2004, the company accepted a buyout worth $1.3 billion from Fairport, N.Y.-based Constellation
Brands.

A Great Read

M.I.A.

Yes, Yes...I've been very negligent in posting to my "food" blog. I realized that I started doing food-related post on my Chowza site. I will make a concerted effort to fill this page with more.
